MariFer Douglas is a Mexican-Canadian emerging director, actor and producer. She graduated from Simon Fraser University in 2018 with a BFA in Theatre Performance and a Sociology Minor. She has directed and produced her own work since 2016 through her emerging collective Xongos Arts Club.

Her work has been shown in the IGNITE! Youth Festival, The Burnaby Village Museum, The Burnaby Arts Council, The Cultch, and at the Tom Cone Festival. She was also part of the Riotous Youth 2019 ensemble for Bard on the Beach: Shakespeare Festival.

Her main focus is to create experimental theatre that challenges the perception we have about mental disabilities and disorders and help create supportive communities that can welcome these people without judgments or punishments.

She is interested in creating a theatre where sensations and subconsciousness are the primary element of the experience and play with surreal aesthetics. She was recently part of the PTC’s Block A 2020 program where she developed the first draft of IN-TEA-MACY and is looking to keep developing this work further. She is currently working in the creation of a YouTube Channel and in a Fringe Show with Theatre Terrific Society.
